Just did a little rock-out to My Morning Jacket. Headed to KY soon. I plan to nap on the way. Taking our bitch-mutt Duchess, going directly to Shiloh Klingler’s lamb showing at the Hart County Fair. Apparently there will be carnival rides. I will worry about the safety and the rides’ compliance with maintenance schedules. My daughters will giggle & squeal & ride those rickety deathtraps with impunity until they puke corn-dogs & rally to ride again. For her part, Duchess is looking forward to chasing my brother-in-law Tom’s llamas. I hope she meets a swarthy, dark and complicated coyote and has a summer fling with him.

Fields left in the early afternoon: this slave-driver made me record eleven MLO YouTube shorts in less than twelve hours last night & this morning. Paul’s manuscript awaits, still warm. Manan’s is in line, bitching at its lack of current attention—it’s his, so that sort of explains the bitching. My own manuscript? Eh. Emma wrote me a letter on Monday; it came in my office mail this afternoon. Obviously, I am not home enough. There remains grading to complete. Tomorrow? Kentucky.
